This is not our work, our baptisms . . . This is the LORD's work and HIS glory.

Hello hello,
Yeah so yesterday was my 5 month marker! Crazy, has time gone by as fast for all of you as it has for me? Weird. So some sad news.....last night we had an appointment with the Moralez family and they told us that they didn’t want to have the discussions anymore. It’s really weird because they told us they knew the Book of Mormon is true and that they felt really good and felt the spirit every time we taught them. They told us that when they went to church, it didn’t feel the same as it did in the lessons we’ve had with them. The weird thing is that the spirit was there at church. It was actually a really good meeting. Elder Garrett and I were stunned. We talked about it after we got back to our apartment and Elder Garrett shared a story from Hugh B. Brown about a "currant bush". If you have a chance try to look it up. Then we read some scriptures that kind of went along with the story and about how we are nothing and that this is the Lord’s work. Elder Garrett and I were really excited about this family. It was going to be his first whole family he would baptize, and obviously mine. We kept thinking how awesome their baptism was going to be and everything, but the Lord showed us that this is HIS work and HIS glory to bring to pass the immortality of man, like it says in Moses. Though it was sad, it was another good experience. One thing that Elder Garrett wants me to learn from this, if I don’t learn anything else, is that this isn’t our work, our baptisms, our investigators, our area, our mission, or anything. We are here to help the Lord in HIS work. And a lot of times we fail, but we try our best and hopefully our sacrifice will be what the Lord expected from us. Even though the Moralez family knew it was true, we were humbled by this experience and know that the Lord has other plans for them right now. He taught us that this is HIS work. So it’s something we can’t be sad about or worry about because they can’t say that we didn’t show them and tell them and share our testimonies with them that this is the only true church. It was the first time in my mission for me to lose investigators who were progressing so much. Yeah, I learned in the MTC that this could happen but it’s different when it actually does happen. It’s not that I’m sad or upset. It’s just another good thing I’ve learned from my mission - that this is the Lord’s work so we just have to continue in the work no matter what happens and keep strong, with our faith in the Lord, because he has promised us many things. Sometimes we are hesitant about doing what he tells us but we just need to get our feet wet and let the Lord guide us. So yeah, I’ve always kind of known that I would need to just continue working hard no matter what but this was a reminder that time is short and we don’t have time to waste because they are so many people who are ready to receive the gospel and we just need to find them and just talk with everyone. This will also help me in my life after my mission. I know that if we ever feel a prompting, we just have to go with it, even if it doesn’t seem probable, and that the Lord can do anything for us if we just do what he asks of us.
Anyways... I had divisions with San Miguel Monday but Elder Garret went to Daniel and Susanna’s house. The time before that, they told us why they didn’t want to get married. It's because Daniel would take the money they got every month and use it to go out with his friends and drink or whatever and not bring it back home for the family. But Elder Garrett told me that they said they are going to get married after they get their house fixed (they’re the ones that had a room in their house catch on fire). It’s a really good sign that they want to get married. We are going to go over tonight and see how we can help them. Other than that, we don’t have many investigators that are really progressing right now. We have to find more. One cool thing is that this past Sunday, all the people who have been baptized since I’ve been here were at church, except for one, but he’s going to a different ward. It was a really good feeling to see all of them there, and see that they are staying strong in the church.
But other than that, everything is going good. Remember to smile and be happy. And yes, I'll take pics . . . and have been taking pics, so not to worry (mom lol:))  Remember to smile and be happy.  I love you so much, talk to you next week!
Con amor,
Elder Ludwig
