Club Atlético Boca Juniors is a popular Argentine sports club best known for its professional football team. Its home base is the neighborhood of La Boca, in Buenos Aires, and their home field is Estadio Alberto J. Armando, better known as La Bombonera. Their main rival is River Plate, with whom they contest the Superclásico

Superclásico is the name used to describe the football match in Argentina between Buenos Aires rivals Boca Juniors and River Plate. It derives from the Spanish usage of "clásico" to mean derby, with the prefix "super" used as the two clubs are the most popular and successful clubs in Argentine football. According to some statistics, they commandeer more than 70% of all Argentine football fans between them,[1] with Boca claiming 40% and River 32%.[2]

The Superclásico is known worldwide as one of the fiercest and most important derbies.[3]English newspaper The Observer put the Superclásico at the top of their list of "50 sporting things you must do before you die" . . .

The Boca Juniors have won 41 official tournaments at the national and international level.  The club is one of eight teams to have won CONMEBOL's treble (the others being Olimpia, São Paulo, Independiente, Vélez Sársfield, Cruzeiro, Internacional and LDU Quito). Domestically, the club has won 23 national championships, second only to River Plate (33).
The club is usually a permanent fixture in the IFFHS Club World Ranking top 25 and has reached the top position of the monthly ranking 6 times (mostly during coach Carlos Bianchi's tenure).[4] Boca is currently ranked 344th.[5]
The youth academy has produced many Argentine internationals such as Nicolás Burdisso, Carlos Tévez and Fernando Gago who have played or are playing for top European clubs.
