AdriAnne and Tucker Davis were both students at Brigham Young University in Provo when their mission calls arrived at their home in Colorado. So, their parents, Bob and Jenni Davis, met them at a relative's house in Utah with their mission calls.
AdriAnne opened hers first and was excited to see she was going to be serving in the Argentina Bahia Blanca Mission. Tucker went next and surprised everyone there when he announced he would be serving in Argentina -- the Argentina Buenos Aires Mission.
"I thought they had misread it at first," their mother, Jenni Davis, said. "I was excited they were going to the same country."
It was in the last year after a brother returned from serving in California that AdriAnne seriously considered serving. Her 21st birthday was in November and with school, ended up turning in her papers at the same time as Tucker, who turned 19 in April, and had planned on a mission for the summer after his freshman year.
"Both of my brothers are my best friends," AdriAnne said. "That's probably one of my favorite things -- serving at the same time as one of my best friends."
"It's going to help to have her in the MTC," Tucker said. "I'll be able to relate with her. ... Every step of the way to be doing the same thing is really helpful."
Both said they plan to keep in touch while in Argentina.
But there is still the anxiety of parents watching their children get on the airplane or dropping them off at the MTC.
"You have to be supportive. It's the same when they go off to kindergarten -- it tugs at your heartstrings, but you know it will be a good opportunity for them," Jenni Davis said.
