Lots of Surprises

Hey everyone!

The beginning of this past week was slow but it turned out to be pretty good - lots of surprises and crazy things but that’s what makes the mission the mission!

Earlier in the week, we got a call and were told we were going to have a Zone Conference on Friday.  Another zone located about 3 hours away arrived the night before.  We had 2 other elders stay the night with us in our small place; it was fun!

Thursday night we had the interview planned for Belinda’s baptism.  While waiting outside of the room, President Gulbrandsen walked into the church! None of us had any idea he was coming over but he said for some reason when he was walking to his hotel, he felt like he should head over to the church.  A little while later, the Elder who was doing the interview ran into the sacrament room where we were and then just stopped - so surprised to see President because he needed to call him to ask him a question about the interview because Belinda was having trouble with one of the questions. So President finished the interview.  So we now know why he felt the impression to go by the church. Belinda ended up passing the interview!

Friday we had our Zone Conference, which was awesome. We talked and learned a lot about personal revelation and how to receive it for our investigators. I learned a lot and it was awesome to see President Gulbrandsen.

Saturday was just crazy.  Before the baptism, we went to the church and cleaned the font and got the water started. One of the water heaters was broken so we only had warm water, but it wasn’t that warm at all.  We went to get Belinda and her kids to take them to the church but one of her sons hadn’t come home from school yet.  He was an hour and a half late and no body knew where he was.  Belinda was angry and didn’t want to leave the house until he came home. So my comp went with one of the other sons to look for him and I went with the rest of the family to the church because that was the only way she’d leave.

We finally got to the church and the water was completely cold. So of course some of the members wanted to have her wait until another time to get baptized, which you never want to do because Satan is going to work even harder on that person.

So I talked to her and she decided to go through with it. Right before the baptism, my comp and the missing son showed up, which was another miracle.  So with all of that - Belinda DID GET BAPTIZED!!! It was awesome. So we were way stoked about that.

We tried going by to see Mario all week but could never get a hold of him, which was kind of disappointing. We had some really awesome lessons with Cristina and her husband, and they both want to get married but they are still in the deciding phase for some reason.  But we are sure they will get married soon!  They both came to church yesterday.  Their 1-year-old boy threw up during gospel principles! And last night we found another older couple that accepted baptismal dates for the first week of May.  We also found a couple of other people and some part-member families this week too, so we are going strong here at the bottom of the world!

Today we took a detour from the norm and went and hiked the mountain to the glacier!! But it’s stormy today and was snowing so couldn't see much of the glacier but it was sooo pretty.  I’ll try to send pics if we have time. I forgot my cable but my comp has his.  If not today, then next week for sure.  I love it here, it’s so chill. That’s about it for my adventurous week.

I love you all and thank you for everything. The next 2 months are going to fly by! Can’t believe it. Have a good week, stay strong, and always be happy, love you guys!

Love Drew
